I love Harry Potter. It's not a huge shock for the people that know me. I never got to read the books or watch the movies until I was 17 and on my own, and then it all spiraled.
My favorite, book and movie, is Prisoner of Azkaban. I love Sirius Black, Bellatrix (though her part was small, her crazyness is awesome), etc. It was just my favorite. In the beginning of the movie, Dumbledore is giving his beginning of the term speech, in which he says:
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
Lately, life hasn't been a lot of happiness, so I turned on my favorite Harry Potter movie.
And then I was hit with that.
And then I knew I HAD to keep that in my head. So I got busy.
The KraftyBlok was $10, but they continually go on sale for 50% off at Hobby Lobby.
The KraftyBlok stand was $2.99.
The light was $2.99.
The scrapbook paper was $0.69.
The letters were..on sale, and I can't remember the price. MAKE SURE YOU GET ENOUGH LOWER CASES FOR WHAT YOU NEED.
I also used mod podge. Because I use mod podge on everything.
First, I cut the paper to fit on my block as best as I could.
And then I mod podged it on the block. And you know what? I suck. I can never get rid of all the air bubbles for some reason. It's okay though, because it gives the final product character. It really shows off the hand made aspect of it.
Then, add the letters for whatever quote, saying, whatever you choose.
I wanted my letters to look wonky and crazy and not necessarily even, which is EXTREMELY difficult for me and my OCD perfectionism. >.<
I ran out of e's and n's, so this took about a week to finally finish. /facepalm.
I like to do a layer of mod podge over the letters, too.
Then set up your light, stand, and block.
Turn it on.
Step back and enjoy. Sitting down next to it with a nice cup of tea could prove to be quite relaxing.
I'm planning on making 4 more of these, for each of the kids.
What kind of light did you use? Did you also purchase it at Hobby Lobby?
ReplyDeleteI spotted this on Pinterest and just made it. I hope you don't mind but I did link your idea on my blog.
